Summary

This funding opportunity supports both individual creators and artist collectives working in diverse creative practices within the United States. Grants aim to elevate underrepresented voices in queer art, particularly in visual arts, moving-image media, dance, and photography. Applicants may include self-identifying LGBTQ+ artists across various identities, including lesbian filmmakers, Black trans women visual artists, queer women and nonbinary dancers, and emerging LGBTQ+ photographers. Institutional applicants are not eligible; funding is reserved for individuals or collaborative partnerships.

The purpose of the grants is to nurture innovative, identity-driven artistic work that promotes cultural visibility and experimentation. Fund use can encompass production costs, development of new work, public presentation, and professional growth. Some grants also provide formative support like studio visits or mentorship alongside financial awards.

This opportunity comprises several grant categories, each with unique funding levels: up to approximately $5,000 for lesbian experimental filmmakers; $7,000 for queer women and nonbinary movement artists; $10,000 for Black trans women visual artists; and $10,000 for emerging LGBTQ+ photographers, with smaller finalist recognition. Additionally, two broader awards around $10,000 each are given for significant recent work and sustained artistic contribution—recognizing achievement and impact in queer art.

Applications are accepted annually with rolling deadlines varying by grant category. The longest open window currently runs from late March through early July for the filmmaking and visual arts grants. Awards are distributed each year, contingent on funding availability and alignment with program priorities.

Applications are submitted online following the guidelines outlined on the organization’s website.
