Grants for Racial & Indigenous Health Equity Research Programs in New York (USA)
GrantID: 74860
Grant Funding Amount Low: $50,000
Deadline: October 1, 2025
Grant Amount High: $200,000
Summary
This new grant is designed to help groups that have recently lost federal backing continue critical health equity research. Up to five million dollars is available in total, with individual grants falling roughly between fifty thousand and two hundred thousand dollars. These grants are exclusively open to organizations—not individuals—that are based in the U.S. or its territories and that were previously funded by federal agencies like NIH, CDC, or similar. The research must focus on racial and Indigenous health equity and aim to tackle structural issues at their root, rather than clinical trials or biomedical experimentation.
Organizations can receive up to two years’ worth of support, covering a range of research-related costs—everything from salaries and community partnerships to data collection, analysis, travel, and general overhead. Importantly, the funding is meant to pick up where interrupted federal projects left off, and applicants are asked to document how their prior funding was halted.
The aim is to fuel action‑oriented, community‑centered projects that push for systemic solutions and go beyond merely identifying problems. Preference is given to early‑ to mid‑career researchers—especially Indigenous, Black, Latino, and other people of color—who bring lived experience and antiracist or anticolonial perspectives.
Grants are intended to be highly responsive and timely, helping keep momentum in research that was derailed by unexpected funding shifts. The goal is to support studies that inform structural change and empower communities—not replace federal support, but bridge critical gaps.
In short, if you're part of an institution in the U.S. that experienced sudden federal funding cuts for racial or Indigenous health equity research, and you're looking to continue that work in a way that centers community-led, system‑focused solutions, this opportunity could offer meaningful support—both financial and mission‑aligned.
